Mango Baby v2024.1 Release Notes
Mango Baby says goodbye to ads in the first update of 2024, prioritizing user experience.
Ever since Mango Baby was launched on Jun 27, 2020, it had a simple pricing model. Users could enjoy a large set of features for free, and ads were shown. You can unlock additional features and remove the ads with a one-time purchase.
The ads have brought me a good portion of the revenue. In fact, it accounted for 16% of the revenue for the year of 2023. This doesn't account for users who purchased Mango Baby Premium for the sole purpose of removing ads, and I expect removing ads would cost more.
However, I'm not proud that Mango Baby serves ads. I have tried my best navigating through AdMob and Google AdSense's consoles, and disabled all the settings for personalized ads. This minimizes the data collected by ad companies. Nevertheless, I believe any ad degrades the app experience.
Therefore, I made the decision to absorb this cost and remove ads completely in Mango Baby.
I hope this can generate a positive momentum for Mango Baby and Mango Umbrella in 2024.
Besides removing ads, Mango Baby v2024.1 also contains this change: charts now display average values excluding today and future dates by default. You can change the behavior back in Settings

Mango Baby is available on the App Store to download for free. Mango Baby Premium is a $9.99 (U.S. store) one-time purchase to unlock exclusive features like iCloud Share, Growth Charts, and Data Import/Export.
